AlphaOne Amritsar Concludes Second ‘Say No to Drugs’ Drive in Maqbool Pura

AlphaOne Amritsar, a retail subsidiary of Alpha G:Corp concluded the second drive of its ‘Say No to Drugs’ drive on 23rd January, 2015. The campaign, a joint initiative of AlphaOne and Swami Vivekananda Drug De-Addiction and Treatment Centre, is in line with the first drug rehabilitation program that was rolled out on 14th November, 2014. Flagged off by Mr Bhagat, DC Amritsar last year, the drive pledged to combat substance abuse efficaciously.

The second drive was organized at Pulse Hospital in Maqbool Pura, an area that is adversely affected by drugs in Amritsar. The event consisted of counselling sessions both in the vicinity of the hospital and in the privacy of homes. The campaign had a core team of more than 35 volunteers including doctors, Team AlphaOne and volunteers of ‘Amritsar Sparkling-Be the Change’ pro-actively participating in the event. The team also offered door-to-door assistance to spread the word about the detrimental effects of drug abuse, along with informing the locals about the distinct medical facilities like ambulance, mobile vans, counselling and treatments that are available at the hospital.

Exalted at the successful conclusion of the second drive, Dr. Prodipta, Executive Director Alpha G:Corp said, “This is a collaborative effort on our part along with like-minded partners for our on-going civic and social initiatives, ‘Amritsar Sparkling’ and ‘Be The Change’. This collaborative initiative will continue to reinforce and increase awareness about the importance of good health and fitness among the residents as well as meaningfully and consistently educate people about the dreaded drug habit. We hope to take this initiative further and espouse a systematic approach for better health and fitness with Say No to Drugs.”

The volunteers also distributed fliers to educate the residents about cleanliness and hygiene—the underlining idea behind their monthly cleanliness drive, ‘Amritsar Sparkling’. Endeavouring to transform the community, the volunteers also motivated the residents to keep their area clean.

Established in 2003, Alpha G:Corp Development Private Limited has not only been a pioneer of modern retail in India but has also been successful in revamping the face of the otherwise profit seeking private sector by regularly organizing various sustainable eco-practices and community-centric drives.

Of the many illustrious names on its board, Mr Sudhir Choudhrie sits on the Board of Directors and provides expert advice on business and philanthropic initiatives of the group as a whole.
